 Welcome to Hopewood

Our Mission

Hopewood is a nonprofit, Christian organization dedicated to offering opportunities for personal renewal and spiritual refreshment and to assist those seeking wholeness and deeper intimacy with God

Our Vision

Recognizing that Jesus Himself needed to periodically go away to a quiet place, the vision of Hopewood is to help people who are distracted by the frantic pace of life find the privacy, serenity and support they need for spiritual refreshment, restoration and direction.   A variety of  retreats will be offered, both structured and unstructured,  including Bible studies, workshops, days of prayer and silent retreats.

Our Name

Reflecting upon the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we recall that He was the son of a carpenter and probably spent many of his early days on earth working with wood.  How ironic that this very material would one day be used for his Cross--His instrument of suffering as He died for the sins of the world.  Yet, this unlikely object has become our symbol of hope.  The cross is our “hopewood.”  It is there, at the cross, that we find our healing, peace and freedom.  It is our prayer that Hopewood Retreat Ministries will help people “take up their cross” and follow Him and experience the new life found only in Him.

More About Us

Hopewood Retreat Ministries was founded in 2000 by Keith and Carol Klekota with the ultimate vision of providing a place for individuals to stay for short periods of time in order to experience what it means when the scripture says “be still and know that I am God.”  The still, small voice of our Lord can easily be drowned out amidst the clamor of daily life--especially when we encounter painful and often confusing events in life such as the loss of a loved one through death or divorce, career changes and job stresses, when children leave home or when a family member suddenly requires extraordinary care.  Sometimes we face issues that require privacy and confidentiality and long for a place that understands this.  And, all of us, at one time or another, can sense the “call to the quiet” to enter into a deeper fellow ship with our Lord and receive His fresh direction for our lives.  For many, finding a safe place for this purpose can be difficult, and that is why we believe God has called Hopewood into existence.

Our goal is to find property conducive for this peaceful retreat--one that is accessible yet seclude by God's creation.  We envision a place that would hold approximately 12 people, no more than 20 in order to preserve the privacy and tranquility.  Currently, we hold a variety of day and weekend retreats for emotional and spitual health and growth.  In addition, individuals can reserve Hopewood's Quiet Place for a personal day of peace and prayer.
